London · One day · 5 stops · 30% local · ~1.9 km walked (~2,500 steps) · relaxed pace

⛰ Terrain: some climbs. Flat by the river, then a steep park climb to the Observatory.

Come by river rather than the DLR — the approach is the point. Cutty Sark as you land, the Painted Hall next (lie on the benches provided), then lunch in the covered market, open daily 10h–17h30. Save the park climb for late afternoon so the Observatory view lands with the light behind the city.

Maritime London, all in one park

  • Cutty Sark

The last tea clipper, hoisted so you can walk beneath the hull.

  • Old Royal Naval College & Painted Hall

Thornhill spent nineteen years on that ceiling — lie on the benches and look up.

  • Greenwich Market

Covered market, open daily 10h–17h30 — antiques traders on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.

  • Greenwich Park

The climb from the river to the Observatory — deer in the walled bit at the top.

  • Royal Observatory

Stand on zero longitude, then turn round for the best view of Canary Wharf.
